Since the holiday season is now among us, I wanted to do a new holiday contest.
Get your creativeness, glue guns, bom bomms and yarn out or just go buy one, it is time for "The Dena Jo Ugly Sweater Contest!"
This gives you a whole lot of time to make or buy an ugly sweater!
Ugly sweater pictures will need to be into me by December 11th (I will get that information for were to send it to.) and I will announce the winner on Friday the 15th.
I am going to start of the day with the word of the day & quote of the day. A LITTLE ENCOURAGEMENT IN A WORLD OF HATE, Let's go!
Today's word of the day is " laughter "
//: the action or sound of laughing
**Quote of the Day
"Laugh my friend, for laughter ignites a fire within the pit of your belly and awakens your being." - Stella McCartney
"If you can laugh in the face of adversity, you are bullet-proof." - Ricky Gervais
Ahhh, laughter. The most contagious of all emotional experiences.
It can be triggered by embarrassment and other social discomforts or of course when we are happy.
Laughter has so many health benefits.
A hearty chuckle releases endorphins, feel-good neurotransmitters that have an effect similar to narcotics, AND endorphins are part of the reason laughing is so contagious. It helps increase blood flow and improve mental and physical resilience.
In todays world, we do not make much effort to find cheer and laughter, though we should. We're too busy, too cynical or too grumpy!! Yet simple laughter can make life feel more manageable by masking pain, sharpening your ability to remember things and get you through your daily grind.
Here are a few more facts on laughter:
- Laughter bonds people through prosocial behavior
- It's a contagion
- Women laugh 126 percent more than men
- Mating would be nowhere without it
- Men want to generate laughter and they need women who will laugh
- Women are commonly laughter appreciators
With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health. One of the best things, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.
Think about it. As children, we used to laugh hundreds of times a day, but as adults, life tends to be more serious and laughter more infrequent. But by seeking out more opportunities for humor and laughter, you can improve your emotional health, strengthen your relationships, and find greater happiness - AND even add years to your life!!
You got this, laugh often! I believe in you!!
