Being an adult in this world nowadays can change you. I say it all the time YET the nastiness, self-centered humans gets to you. I have the bad habit, I have gotten a lot better but I still stuff a lot of the stuff instead of looking at the situation a bit more positively.
Being positive means you are choosing to see the bright side of things. That takes practice. Some are born with it. My son is like that, not me.
It is a conscious decision that you have to make on a daily basis.
It means that you can recognize that struggle and pain are not the only things out there, even if they are the only things you can see at the time.
Even through pain & sorrow, being positive means that you can always find the good in situations or people.
You have faith that things will always get better.
Here are a few tips on being more positive:
**You have a choice every morning when you wake up. You can embrace the day, start it off with something positive, like a quick workout, a calming meditation or the Dena Jo Podcast…hehehe
Or you can be a grumpy butt either way you will still have to get up and get on with your day. Your choice.
**Listening to music has a positive effect on the autonomic nervous system, which controls your blood pressure, heartbeat, and your limbic system which is in charge of you emotions and feelings and decreases anxiety.
**Surround yourself with people who bring you up instead of down. Seriously take a look at the people you spend the majority of time with. Are they always angry, mad or irritated? Not sure about you put that turns me off.
You might not be able to control who is around you when you are at work BUT outside of that, have the freaking courage to let go of the people who impact your life negatively.
Likewise, if you are surrounded by people who are constantly positive about their lives, they will be able to influence you to feel the same.
**Have a few TRUSTED friends whom you consider a great listener and trustworthy.
You are able to share with them personal issues that you are not making public for everyone else. This gives your friend the opportunity to consider another solution to the issue.
**Take a hard look at how you treat people in your life. Is there anywhere you can show more kindness and patience? Can you help out more?
**Positive and happy people practice gratitude. Research confirms that gratitude increases feelings of positivity and reduces depression.
**I read this tip and really like it, Some call this their “sunshine” box. It's basically a collection of good things people have said about you. Take a peek when you feel down to remind yourself of your positive traits.
**Make and keep a compliment file or box.
When you get a compliment from someone, it is almost like getting a gift. It is positive energy being passed on to you through appreciation. Getting the right compliment can certainly make your day, cheer you up, help you feel appreciated, and definitely help you feel more positive.
**Give yourself a break. It is impossible to stay positive if you are always down on yourself and critical of your own work and efforts.
**Encourage others. Tell them you believe in them. Letting others know their worth, especially if you are a boss!
**It may seem like sometimes the world is working against us, and negative things are happening all the time. If you start implementing some of these strategies, you will be able to add more and more positivity in your life and stop focusing so much on the negative.

I really want to figure out this "Sunshine box," I know for me seeing positive comments from others fills my heart with so mluch happiness. I guess that is why I keep every card I get.

- I was talking last week about all the mosquitoes because of all the water. And now there are Malaria has made a comeback in FL & TX. Five cases have been reported. Before these cases, locally acquired mosquito borne malaria had not been reported in the U.S. for 20 years. In 2003, eight people in FL caught the disease.
Typically, within a week to a month of being bitten by a mosquito carrying the malaria-causing parasite, people experience an initial "attack" that lasts hours and has several stages of symptoms, including cold and shivering; then fever, headaches and vomiting; and finally, sweating and fatigue. Additional signs of malaria that doctors look for include an enlarged spleen, mild jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), enlargement of the liver and increased breathing rate.
I mentioned about the different oils (cinnamon, lavender ect.) now reading that you can use coffee grounds to keep adult mosquitoes at bay. I have never used this method but going to try it. Now when you go online there are a bunch of articles why it will help and others saying no don't but it on your plants. Do your research. I did read that because of the caffeine it can kill your pets. It said that typically pets and insects (mosquitoes) do not like the pungent smell and know it is dangerous and hit the road. It was also saying you could put it in standing water, ponds or by your pool and they will not lay their larva there. Again do your own research.

Pickle Margartita - all of this is fluid ounces peeps!
- 1/2 cup of ice
- 2 fluid ounces of Blanco Tequila
- 1 1/2 ounces of Triple Sec
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 ounce dill pickle juice
- Dill pickle slices for garnish
** I am thinking this is for one drink. In the picture it is a very big margarita glass, you know the biggest one you can get a Mexican restaurant?? They are heavy and thick - you could knock someone out with one. I would definitely try one.
Wouldn't it be cool to get together once every so often (like WKOP does, lawn get together, sorry brain fart.) and try out all this stuff we talk about? Hang out, enjoy each other's company and eat and drink stuff. Sounds like smiles and happiness to me.

It sounds extremely sweet. In fact you are warned in said article about its sweetness. I always ask how many pumps of sryup do you put in there, if its 9 I get 3. I can't do sweet, sweet.
