Today is October 11, 2023. On today's show, I was joined by my close friend Bamm Bamm and Mike Tampa Bay to continue the talk on wisdom. I appreciate the time they took out to call in and share their thoughts and opinions on the subject!
**First, I want to say if you are going through something, and you feel like you are all alone, and you have no reason to live, please go get help, talk to some. The number, 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Or talk to a friend. I often wonder if the people who actually go through with it if they can see all the people whom they left grieving, crying, feeling lost. I know it when you are so down and in that pit, it is hard to understand that whatever you are going through will pass, and you will be ok. Just please go speak to some. 988. Moving on.
**I am going to start of the day with the word of the day & quote of the day. A LITTLE ENCOURAGEMENT IN A WORLD OF HATE, Let's go!
Today's word of the day is "wise or wisdom"
//: having or showing experience, knowledge, and good judgment:
"she seems kind and wise" ·
**Quote of the day:
Albert Einstein summed it up perfectly: “An intelligent person is one who solves a problem, a wise person avoids it”.
"Do not correct a fool or he will hate you. Correct a wise man and he will appreciate you." Dalai Lama
"A smart person knows what to say. A wise person knows whether to say it or not." - Dalai Lama
Wisdom is deeply linked to the ability for developing a deep intuition and a correct judgement about people. A wise person is guided not by the rules but by a much deeper conviction. That being said, Aristophanes (Air-i-stoph-a-ness) said, "Although all laws were abolished, the wise person would continue to behave in the same way," WHY because they are guided by their principles.
I have two questions for you…what do you think being wise mean? And Who is the wisest person in your life?
When I think of a wise person, I think of someone who is experienced and kind. Some would think someone of a certain age, but I do not think that at all.
There are younger people who despite his or her youth, I regard as genuinely wise. It is not just solely for the elderly.
Wisdom is cultivated from the daily experiences we have all gone through. Those experiences make you wise in that area of your life and able to use that wisdom for good in helping someone else whom is going through that same life challenge. The experiences and challenges I have gone through are completely different than all yours.
But there are so characteristics that all wise people have in common. They are often characterized by their positive traits and behaviors.
- They don't blame others for their mistakes, they learn from them
The mature and wise person is aware that mistakes are a learning opportunity and do not look for others for their mistakes.
- They don't let themselves be dominated by emotions
Wise people know that emotions such as anger and rage hamper intellectual development, so they value their mental health and do not allow others or circumstances to control their emotional responses.
- They are open-minded and understand all perspectives without letting bias or emotions get in the way.
- They never believe that they are better than anyone else.
On the contrary, wise people never believe they are superior to others. They understand that we are all unique, all been through different circumstances, and that talking in terms of better or worse doesn't freaking matter!
They don’t assume they’re always right and don’t have a strong ego.
They are empathetic and compassionate.
They are self-aware and understand their own emotions.
They are humble and don’t feel the need to talk themselves up.
They have superior judgment.
They are curious and love learning new things.
The bottom line is, wise individuals are characterized by their ability to make good judgments based on a deep understanding and experience of life and are thoughtful, prudent, and insightful in their actions and choices.
All things you can learn. You got this…I believe in you.
I am going to take a drink and then we will move on to the rest of the show! Cheers
**Joke of the day:
Question: What do you call a cat that ate a lemon?
