Today is Wednesday, January 25th, 2023. Went over the weather in Denver, Canada & PA. Remember if you would like a shout out for your local weather, please leave a comment here or on The Dena Jo Podcast Facebook page.
Today my word of the day is "believe." Which means: to achieve anything you have to first believe that you can.
Quote of the day:
"Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome." - Unknown
Sometimes it is hard to believe. When you are going through the struggles of life (which we all have), it is hard to believe. We all go through crap. When you hit that bottom and are so low and wonder, HOW, how am I going to get through this? But we believe and somehow, may be on our knee's BUT we make it throuh it. What we thought was impossible became possible.
So believe, believe in yourself! NEVER, never give up!! You can do anything you put your mind too. I will leave you with this quote:
"Life is very interesting. In the end, some of your greatest pains become your greatest strengths." - Drew Barrymore

- M&M's cancel spokescandies for celebrity spokesperson after backlash:
Ever since M&M redesigned its brown & green spokescandies, there's been backlash that the company has become too "woke." Though each color underwent a slight change in 2022, the most notable was the female characters, who ditched their high heels & sexy looks in a effort to be more inclusive and representative of its customers.
The candy crew didn't stop there, though. In October of the same year, it released the purple M&M intended for female packs. Per a news release, the new addition was a further attempt to promote acceptance and "celebrate what makes us unique," and then the tweets started pouring in. Went over the weather here in Denver. We all said happy birthday to my little friend in Canada Eli.
I went over the word of the day "potiental" which means, "developing into something" of "Capable of being or becoming."
Thinking about how self-awareness can shape our potential, helped me begin to define my own attitude toward fully developing into someone I want to be. Truly and deeply knowing yourself takes time, quiet, and enough mental and physical space in which to process.
You need will power. With your courage and a firm intention, you can achieve whatever personal portential you want. Potential and talent are qualities that you build within yourself with hard work.
Understanding your portential reaures strong will power, patience, and baby steps in the right direction.
REMEMBER:
A scrub is guy that thinks he's fine
And is, also known as a busta
Always talkin' about what he want,
And just sits on his broke ass...that is not POTIENTAL!! Don't be a scrub.
My quote of the day:
"You don't have to be the smartest person in the room to be a role model. You have to be kind, compassionate, understanding, sharing your truth, letting other people see you strive & work to try to reach your potential." - Brendon Burchard
I went over the ding dongs that are smuggling eggs across the border, Taylor Swifts pop up bar in Chicago and a MasterClass on Pesto.
Music - I continued with the list of summer songs the year you graduated.
You can find the Pesto info on The Dena Jo Podcast Facebook page.

Went over the weather here in Denver, Canada & Pennsylvania.
Class everyone, the word of the day is "incentive."
//: something that makes a person try or work hard or harder
//: INCENTIVE applies to an external influence (such as an expected reward) inciting to action.
A bonus was offered as an incentive.
Quote of the day:
"An incentive is a bullet, a key: an often tiny object with astonishing power to change a situation." - Steven D. Levitt
You know I am going to rant and push trade schools and/or learning a trade. It seems like everywhere we go they are in need of help. And they are paying really good. Example: We took are car in for oil change. They were looking for people to cover the seats with plastic, vacumn out car, take car back to loading and then back to the customer, $26 starting. I understand that the cost of living is up. so wages are going to go up also but it really does seem like companies are offering incentives, especially if you are willing to work. I know that at the country club were the boys work they are constantly looking for people. Some need degree's in truff but again trade school.
We need to teach our children a sense of work ethic. How to respect your boss EVEN when they may not deserve it. That is having work ethic, you give it anyway. Be an example. Which again is very rare. We should not expect ANY teacher to teach our children the values we want to instill in them. That is our job, not theirs. In fact we kind of need to work even harder to make sure our kids understand those values so that when peer pressure, teahers (however nice they are) friends, anyone trying to pressure them, they are strong enough to do the right thing.
SOOO teach your kids values and respect. Tell them about trade schools. And this goes for adults too. They could take a lesson on values and respect also! That is the end of DJ's rant.
Talking about trades we have a lot of artist here on Podbean. Tuddles (RC's builder) & Lori (Candle maker), Audie (Artist, Wood worker, Jewelry Maker & Podcaster), Peter (Makes different items with wool from Alpacas.)
Moved on to the death of David Crosby and had a little history about him.
Ahron covered what he watched in sports the week prior.
Went over dance music & the history of the songs.

Weather here in Denver is snowing & cold. It is cold just about everywhere in Canada. Elwood City Pennsylvania was 39 degrees, so cold everywhere.
With the word of the day, I had "listen." To pay attention; heed; obey (often followed by to): "Children don't always listen to their parents."
Quotes of the day, I have two today:
"Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." Stephen R. Coveyand
"The word listen contains the same letters as the word silent." Alfred Brendel
Are you a listener?
If someone consider close comes to you with a concern, maybe a concern you did, do you listen? They come to you with a problem, do you listen? So on and so on, do you listen? Are you silent and willing to understand or are you waiting for that person to take a breathe so you can reply with what "you" want to say??
Do you have an "I'm right & your wrong attitude?" This only prevents you from truly listening to what they are saying, when you make them listen to you instead.
You should be open to exploring their opinions by challenging your own thinking. Do you hijack the conversation? You cannot stay focused on what the other person is saying because you perhaps do not like what they are telling you. You are only telling that person speaking that their thoughts do not matter. Remember they came too you with a cnocern.
Do you cut off the person speaking?? YOu never get to hear the information that the speaker is trying to share with you. You end up damaging your rapport with them. Interrupting and talking over are signals that you're uninterested in what they have to say. We really need to practice being silent more and using the ears God gave us to listen (and hold up your glasses as BP stated!) and maybe learn another perspective, GROWTH. And that is the rest of what DJ has to say.
Went over the story of the stolen prize pigs here in Denver. They were here from Quincy Washington. They were found safe and returned to young owner.
Went over how in Iowa at their State Fair they have a husband calling contest. The winner wins $5 and a ribbon. 😂🤣
Went over This Day in Music History before I started the continued Music list of the top three songs the year you graduated.

Today is Wednesday January 11th. Our word of the day was "sabbatical." A period of time during which someone does not work at his or her job and is able to rest, travel, do research, etc.
"Tim took a sabbatical from Podbean for his mental health." Sabbatical.
Quote of the day, "If you walked away from a toxic, negative, abusive, one-sided, dead-end low vibrational relationship or friendship - you won." Lalah Delia
Sometimes in life we need to examine our lives, clean house of the dead things that are weighting us down. You need to see what is bringing you happiness, joy & laughter and surround yourself with that. Rid your life of individuals or things that are toxic in your life. Negativity breeds negativity. There is too much of that in the world already. We need to try, really try kindness BUT, but that does not mean you have to put up with someone else's poor choices, be that their negative attitude, their abusive behavior (physical or mental.) AND some think that because they were physically abused that gives them the right to treat others like shit, NOPE! You have no excuse to treat others poorly.
"You, yourself as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affections." So clean house and do not put up with poor, crappie behavior.
Went over what is trending in food:
Blue bell is bringing back their Tin roof flavor, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce & chocolate coated peanuts is back.
Girl Scout cookies are back with two new flavors: The Raspberry Rally, sister to the Thin Mints, fruity raspbery flavor dipped in the same chocolate and the Adventurefuls, a brownie inspired cookie filled with a caramel flavored cream center and topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and sea salt.
Krispy Kreme has new line of donuts with Lotus Biscoff's cookies
McDonalds is offering its Blueberry & Creme Pie
After going over junk food, I went over foods that can actually help relieve stress:
Salmon - is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which has been shown to improve mood.
Fiber rich fruits - especially berries - are incredibly fiber rich food source and some, like blueberries have been shown, to reduce the stress hormone cortisol.
Oranges - Vitamin C found in oranges can help alleviate stress.
Chickpeas, eggs, nuts and turkey - these are rich in tryptophan which helps the body produce mood stabilizing serotonin.
Chamomile Tea - chamomile acts as a mild sedative, and it may ease muscle tension and tame anxiety or irritability.
Steel Cut Oats - A warm bowl of oatmeal provides tryptophan, magnesium, and vitamin D to help regulate stress.
and Dark Chocolate - contains polyphenols, which have been shown to improve brain function and mood.
Thank you all again for your continued support and love.

Friday Jan 06, 2023
Today is Friday January 6th. Today's word of the day is "retrospect." Definition: looking back on or a thinkin about past events. Used in a sentence: In retrospect, the signs were self-evident, but nobody had their glasses on.
Quote of the day: "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." - Kahlil Gibran
Do not let anyone tell you that the suffering you have endured is nothing. The character you have developed is there to help others who might someday go through the same suffering. I have had people tell me in the past tha I was not qualified to speak or teach on a specific subject/topic. That is just a bunch of crap. Do not listen to people like that. You need to rid your life of people like that.
Went over what is trending: Peeps just announced Dr Pepper Flavored Chicks, Kettle Corn Chicks and Mike and Ike flavored chicks for Easter 2023.
I also spoke about a India gentlemen that went through with his dieing wifes wishes and made a silcone model of her for $3,000. It is wearing her favorite outfit, glasses and sitting in her favorite spot on the couch. Super Creepy!!
Ahron then joined me and he went over the sports for the past week. He started with the WWE and we were joined by Tuddles our Canadian family. We all chatted about Smack down and what went on. Thanks Tuddles for always coming through with more wrestling information.
Ahron continued with the CFP Semifinal Games, the NHL Winter Classic in Boston at Fenway Park. He also spoke about wanting to learn more about calculating stats for baseball and hockey. Ahron also had a nice PSA about Demar Hamlin, you will have to listen to hear it.
I then covered a dance list I put together for y'all. Went over a bit of the history of each song on the list before playing a bit of each song.
BP - thank you sooo, sooo much for your ongoing support and help right when I need it with the show, YOU ARE AWESOME!!

Friday Jan 06, 2023
Today is Wednesday January 4th. For the word of the day we had "hem". Which means, the edge of a piece of cloth, like the bottom of pants. In a sentence, When kids grow taller, their parents sometimes have to let out the hem in their pants.
Quote of the day: "New year - new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately, we write it. The choice is ours." - Alex Morritt
YES!!! You have to come to a point in your life were either you are completeley happy with every aspect of your life OR you decide it's time to write a new chapter. You're sick of the same old story and will do what it takes to make the changes to get were you want to be. Make small goals, intentions, whatever you want to call them, so you can reach them and move on to the next new goal. It should be a never-ending cycle of growth, which isn't bad. Growing is learning, learning makes you smart! OR you can live your same old story, it is your choice.
Went over the latest handful of deaths in the media; Fred White, former drummer of the band Earth, Wind & fire has died at the age of 67.
Don Williams, last surviving member of the Williams Brothers Quartet, dies at 100.
Lola "Gangsta Boo" Mitchell - a former member of hit-heavy hip hop Three Six Mafia, she was 43.
Alan Rankine - a founding member of the Scottish band The Associates, he was 64.
Ken Block - rally driver and YouTuber, he was young.
Went over This Day in Music History - covering The Who through Led Zepplin.
Fact of the Day: Though Italy often gets all the credit, lasagna actually orginated in Greece. Layers upon layers of noodles and cheese are the stuff of dreams, as well as a Sunday staple in many Italian homes. Centuries ago, Lasagna was named for the fermented noodle laganon, which was popular in ancient Greece, where lasagna originated. yes, Greece, not Italy. Lasagna made its way to Italy by way of Roman conqueror. Italians then brought the recipe to North America in 1800s when they immigrated.
I then went over the 10 words and some phrases that some at Lake Superior State University have banished for 2023.
GOAT, Inflection Point, Gaslightling, Quiet quitting, Moving forward, Amazing, Absolutely, Does that make sense?, Irregardless, It is what it is. Oh wait there is more...."No worries", "You're on mute", and "Wait, what?" Dang I still say all lot of these.

Monday Jan 02, 2023
Today is Monday January 2nd, 2023. Went over the weather and snowstorm we are having and that will be moving across the country. I then went over the word of the day "task." Something that needs to be done. YOu must finish your daily task at work before going home.
Quote of the day: "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." C. S. Lewis
There is a lot of people dieing each week. This past week, Barbara Walters, Pope benedict xvi, Matt Gogin Actor, Vivienne Westwood, British Fashion Designer, Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green.
Talked about the plastic bag ban that went into effect January 1. Was told by Bam Bam that Canada has had their bag ban for over three years.
Went over the fact of the day: Dead skin cells are a main ingredient in household dust. According to researchers at Imperial college London, humans shed around 200 million skin cells each hour and they have to go somewhere when we're indoors. If the idea of skin dust isn't sitting well with you, you should know that report from American Chemical Society found that skin oil called squalene naturally helps reduce indoor ozone levels by up to 15 percent.
We also went over some of TV catchphrases, Tuddles BP and MamaBear all did really great!!
